Shadow Man redesign

...and here we have another Project Rooftop redesign contest piece (you'd think I like entering these :) ).  This time it was for Valiant Entertainments Shadow Man.   I tried to give him a little more of a tech feel with the mask and a little more of a street level feel with the flak jacket and belt.   Plus I bulked him up a bit cause I was just playing with shapes and wanted to go with a more bulked up version of Shadow Man.

Miss America Chavez

Another Project Rooftop Character Fan Art Friday Redesign.   This time it was for Miss America Chavez who is a member of the Young Avengers from Marvel Comics.  This is a variation of the one that I had entered, though it wasn't the first drawing that I did.    I had done another drawing before this, but found I didn't really like it, cause the pose wasn't pushed enough and the feel of that drawing was off, even though that drawing was ok.   So the night before it was due I knocked this one out.  After the contest I went back and touched that drawing up a bit to have what you see below.

Also after that Fan Art Friday I went back and did a variation of the original drawing, trying to push the pose into something that I wanted more.  The concept of it was, that she was suppose to be borrowing Captain America's shield and taking cover as there was gun fire coming at her from a catwalk behind her.

Nova Redesign

This is another Project Rooftop super hero redesign.  This time it was for Marvel Comics character Nova

Quick Sketch's

So here are some of my quick sketch's that I've done in the past.  Some are from drawing at SketchCrawl when I lived in San Francisco for a couple of years, some are from my weekly visits to the SF Zoo and others are from my visit to London.

Can't keep running away.

A character I designed to finish up this animation piece.

Run, Pick up, Throw and Push from Ali Ottey Mitchell on Vimeo.

Monsoon is a character I designed a couple of years ago for an animation project.  I decided to get back to redesigning him to use for a new animation project.   These are a couple of the frames from the animation I'm presently working on as well as recent drawings from my sketchbook

StoryBoard Studying

So every now and then for the last couple of years I've been studying the framing of films I'm watching to help better my storyboarding.   I just pause the movie and draw the scene as quick as possible.  So far it seems to have helped some of the staging for my boards by just trying to understand what the director was thinking.
